About Asilomar Conference Center
Perched at the tip of California's historic Monterey Peninsula, the Asilomar grounds comprise 105 acres of forest, dunes, and beaches, stretching to meet the Pacific Ocean.
This Refuge by the Sea demonstrates a dedicated conservation effort to maintain the fragile beauty of the dunes, the white-sand beaches, and the distinctive marine Life-all unique to this area of the country.
Weather on the coast is variable: cool, damp mornings; warm, sunny afternoons; cool evenings; sometimes fog. Comfortable, layered clothing is most appropriate. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended on grounds.
The Monterey Peninsula is serviced by the Monterey Peninsula Airport (408.373.1704) and by Amtrak into Salinas (800.USA.RAIL). The Monterey/Salinas Airbus (408.883.2871) provides transportation to Monterey from the San Francisco and San Jose airports, and from Amtrak in Salinas. Spiritual Experience
With dozens of opportunities for meditation, yoga, and experiential workshops, the heart and the body are fed as well as the mind. Beach activities such as kite flying, sand castles, drumming, cooperative games, and primal scream are offered to enhance your experience of spirited play.
Youth Program
Make Asilomar a family vacation this year! Trained advisors facilitate dynamic, fun-filled activities for children 5 to 12 years, from 9:00 am to 9:15 pm daily. The Kosmic Kids Program gives your children hands-on experience with spiritual principles in a fun, camp-like setting. Parental supervision is requested during meals. Families are housed together in a special area of the campus.
Bookstore
The Asilomar Bookstore is a retreat within a retreat. Our carefully selected inventory of metaphysical books, music, meditation supplies, and gifts is presented in a tranquil setting among the trees. Visit the Bookstore and find sanctuary for the mind, body, and spirit!
Music Program
A gifted team of musicians come together each year to provide a powerful musical experience. Guest soloists include familiar favorites as well as new voices. And don't miss the Composers' Showcase - a unique venue in which attendees perform their own original compositions. Advance sign-up in the administration building is required to participate in this event.
Late Night Activities
Come to the Oasis in Crocker Hall for cocktails and dancing nightly, or enjoy quieter conversation and spontaneous sing-alongs in the Administration Building. Chapel provides the stage for our Composers' Showcases, Poetry Reading, and Storytelling evenings. You are invited to share your stories or poems, or simply sit back and listen.
Friday Night Gala
The week is highlighted in grand style beginning with cocktails on the deck, followed by a special banquet, an awards presentation, plus musical performances by our choir and children. Later the celebration moves to Merrill Hall for a dance party or, if you prefer, cocktails, coffee, and conversation in Firelight.
